Photovoltaik – Materialien, Zellen und Module

Hohe Konversionswirkungsgrade und damit niedrige photovoltaische Stromgestehungskosten können nur mit optimalen und kosteneffizienten Materialien erzielt werden. Für Silizium, organische sowie III-V- und Perowskit-Halbleiter erreichen wir am Fraunhofer ISE durch tiefgehende Analysen und optimierte Prozesse sehr gute elektronische Eigenschaften. Hierauf aufbauend entwerfen wir mithilfe von Simulationstools optimierte Solarzellenarchitekturen und setzen diese in unseren Labors um. So entstehen bahnbrechende Zellarchitekturen wie die von uns entwickelte TOPCon-Siliziumsolarzelle, die sich als industrieller Standard weltweit durchgesetzt hat. 

Da sich der Wirkungsgrad der Siliziumsolarzelle seinem theoretischen Limit nähert, entwickeln wir die nächste Solarzellengeneration auf der Basis von Mehrfachsolarzellen. Hierbei nutzen wir unsere langjährigen Erfahrungen mit III-V-Halbleitern, um zukunftsweisende Tandemsolarzellen mit neuen und potenziell kostengünstigeren Halbleitern wie Perowskiten produzieren zu können. Bei der Modulherstellung setzen wir auf neue Topologien wie das Matrix-Schindeln, das in Verbindung mit unserer MorphoColor®-Technologie besonders ästhetische Ergebnisse erzielt. Zudem forschen wir an Tandemmodulen, die höchste Modulwirkungsgrade bei Festinstallation oder bei Konzentration in nachgeführten Systemen erlauben.
