  • As a researcher in the department Energy System Analysis, Natapon Wanapinit engages with modelling and optimizing local energy systems (e.g. communities, commercial, and industrial plants). His focuses and expertise include:
  • Renewable energy potential evaluation and optimization of generation technologies in local systems
  • Techno-economic assessment of development pathways toward sustainable goals
  • Impact assessment of changes in energy markets and policies on local systems
  • Identification and evaluation of flexibility potential from internal processes

Curriculum vitae

Natapon Wanapinit graduated a bachelor degree in electrical engineering from Chulalongkorn University and a master degree in renewable energy engineering and management from University of Freiburg with honors. He has professional experience in engineering project management in an international oilfield services company. Since 2016 he joined Fraunhofer ISE and has been researching in areas of energy economics and energy technologies with a focus on local energy systems. Currently, he is also a PhD student and a scholarship holder from Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt.
