With our research teams, we support material developers, system manufacturers, module manufacturers and companies in the development and implementation of new product ideas. Our focus is on the interconnection of solar cells and their embedding in efficient and reliable modules.
Current research topics include highly efficient, durable modules based on highly efficient silicon solar cells and highly efficient tandem solar cells, reliable and lead-free soldering processes, conductive bonding of shingled solar cells and interconnection technologies for back-contact solar cells, glass-glass and lightweight modules, innovative and application-optimized solar modules for integrated photovoltaics, module recycling and the virtual design of modules in terms of their thermo-mechanical reliability (FEM) and performance, annual energy yield (cell-to-module losses, shading analysis).
In our excellently equipped Module Technology Evaluation Center (Module-TEC) at Fraunhofer ISE, we develop PV modules from the initial idea to small series production on industrial systems. This includes the development of virtual prototypes, the actual prototype production and optimization as well as reliability testing according to IEC or UL. We support you in factory planning, determining production costs and the life cycle assessment of your new product.
