The financial structure of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft distinguishes between the operating budget and the investment budget. The operating budget covers all personnel and non-personnel expenses as well as their financing through external revenues and institutional funding. In 2022, the operating budget amounted to 111.5 million euros. In addition, the institute made investments of 9.1 million euros (excluding construction investments and economic stimulus programs).

On 31st December 2022, a total of 1362 staff members were employed at Fraunhofer ISE. Included in this total are 97 doctoral candidates, 95 diploma, master and bachelor students and 318 scientific assistants.

The research work at the Institute is carried out in offices, laboratories, workshops and meeting rooms, which cover an area of over 33.000m². ­(As of: 31.12.2022)
