Dear Reader,

The events of the past few years have made us acutely aware of the vulnerability of Europe's energy supply. At the same time, it has become clear that the development of a sustainable and resilient energy system can only succeed with a competitive industrial sector. As a strong research and development partner, Fraunhofer ISE is taking on this task and is supporting the industry to reestablish photovoltaic production in Germany and Europe, for example.

In our new annual report, you will find more information on how we do this: our strategic goals and current research findings as well as insights into our daily research work and services. As of 2024 we have reorganized our areas of scientific expertise, presenting a more effective platform in order to better meet the growing demand for the systemic solutions needed for a climate-neutral future.

Since 2024, our R&D activities are organized in eight new, market-oriented business areas: Photovoltaics: Materials, Cells, Modules, Photovoltaics: Production Technology and Transfer, Solar Power Plants and Integrated Photovoltaics, Power Electronics and Electricity Grids, Electrical Energy Storage, Climate-Neutral Heat and Buildings, Hydrogen Technologies and System Integration.
