The sustainable production of photovoltaic components requires a high level of knowledge of how they work and how they are manufactured - this is where our expertise in production technology comes into play. The current process technologies are diverse and include wet-chemical processes, epitaxial processes for material production or laser and printing processes for solar cell production. There are also coating processes, bonding technologies and lamination techniques for module production. The use of process and characterization equipment must ensure high performance, reproducibility and yield for the production of highly efficient solar cells and modules.
In our large-scale laboratories, we develop innovative approaches from proof of concept to proof of feasibility in small series with proven and innovative production systems. Our techno-economic and ecological analyses enable well-founded investment decisions for industrial manufacturers, for example with regard to the choice of photovoltaic components and the materials and equipment required for this. These analyses also form the basis for our technology transfer to current and future manufacturers of photovoltaic components. Our experienced scientists and engineers support our partners from the feasibility study through to production.
