By further developing and scaling up processes and production, the manufacturing costs of batteries have recently been significantly reduced. For many years, ISE has therefore been focusing on the development of an innovative process for the production of dry-processed battery electrodes for zinc-ion batteries. By using sustainable PFAS-free binders in combination with innovative technologies, we are striving for cost-efficient and environmentally friendly production.

Test stand for battery tests to optimize the safety of battery storage systems

Teststand zur Optimierung der Batteriesicherheit im Zentrum für elektrische Energiespeicher des Fraunhofer ISE.

Experimental testing is essential for understanding the safety of lithium-ion batteries. For this purpose, batteries are brought into safety-critical states using various triggering methods in the exhibited model of our test stand. During and after these tests, a variety of sensors are used to record data on factors such as temperature, voltage, pressure curves and gas development. This data allows us to determine the characteristics of safety-critical states and develop countermeasures.
