Climatic chamber for PV modules

Climate chamber for weathering tests under various climatic conditions (max. -55 ° C to + 180 ° C) in the accredited laboratory „TestLab PV Modules“. Through a vertical air flow a homogenous temperature distribution within the chamber is present leading to highest comparability of test results.

TestLab PV Modules

At the accredited TestLab PV Modules, founded in 2006, Fraunhofer ISE tests PV modules according to IEC and European standards for design qualification and type approval.

Raman spectroscopy

In Raman spectroscopy, critical points of the module are irradiated with a laser. From the obtained spectrum of scattered light, conclusions can be drawn on the investigated substance.

Development of International Standards

Photovoltaics is one of the fastest growing economic sectors worldwide, driven by high cost pressure and accelerated innovation cycles. High level quality assurance of PV modules is becoming ever more important to strengthen the trust of investors.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE and VDE Renewables have combined their expertise and established a joint service platform for manufacturers, installation companies and distributors. In the Fraunhofer TestLab PV Modules, which was founded in 2006 by Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg, PV modules are tested according to IEC and European standards for design qualification and type approval, while VDE prepares the certification process and issues the respective certificates.

With Fraunhofer TestLab PV Modules, a path-breaking facility for the solar sector was established and accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005. Test Lab PV Modules is recognized as CB Testing Laboratory according to IECEE 01:2014-11, IECEE 02:2012-06 in compliance with the IECEE CB system.
