Climate-Neutral Industry

Decarbonization and the path to climate-neutral production raise numerous questions for companies: 

• Which technologies are suitable for us in our market environment? How do we optimally substitute and integrate them into our existing processes or new plants? 
• Which local renewable energy sources will be economically available at our sites in the future and how can these be optimally combined with resources from the local grids (electricity, heat, cold, gas, H₂)? 
• What does our path to climate neutrality look like? How do we link this with our efforts towards digitalization? 
• What opportunities do negative emission technologies offer? 

Fraunhofer ISE supports these questions in the development of overall concepts based on its expertise in technical solutions such as industrial heat pumps, heat/cold storage, battery storage, electric heaters, cooling and heat/steam networks, PV and solar thermal energy, as well as in the field of energy system analysis, sector coupling and energy markets. The main focus is on optimal system integration and the incorporation of suitable technologies into a specific local infrastructure. For a better understanding of energy flows in existing processes, we provide support in the development of measurement concepts, carry out detailed data analyses, including using the pinch method, and create real-time simulation models (digital twins).
