BIM for operations
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an important aspect of digitalization in the building sector. We are involved in the introduction and further development of BIM for technical building services and building automation. In particular, we are working on the use of BIM for the digital description of technical documentation, operating and system diagrams and functional descriptions to support commissioning and operational monitoring.
Tools for the digitalization of as-built documents
In order to make the information from documents and system diagrams interactively available, we are researching data models for the digital description of sensors, systems and components as well as their connections to each other. In order to create these system models automatically from as-built information, we are developing AI tools for system recognition in 2D schematics and 3D scenes, e.g. of technical rooms. In addition, interfaces to common construction industry standards (e.g. IFC) and product data descriptions (e.g. VDI 3805, ETIM) are used to link relevant information sources. We also investigate the mapping of regulation and control using methods for digital function description.
Based on these approaches, our MoTive tool provides system planners and monitoring service providers with a quick overview of the planned, installed and required measurement technology and supports the commissioning of buildings.
