Fluid recovery; Innovative spiral wound membrane distillation moduls tested in a large container vessel for seawater desalination driven by waste heat from the marine diesel engine.

With over a decade of R&D in membrane technology at Fraunhofer ISE, we have adopted membranes techniques for uses in chemical, mining and wastewater treatment industries, helping to recover valuable minerals and fluids.

Our group is particularly skilled in five main membrane techniques; membrane distillation (MD), ion-exchange membranes for electrodialysis (ED) and diffusion dialysis (DD), ultra-filtration (UF) and reverse osmosis (RO). These techniques are often employed by industries to reuse reagents and recover valuable minerals from fluid rejects.
