The irradiance and electricity yield potential for vehicles depends strongly on the transport route, time of day and utilization profile. Depending on the transport routes that are to be followed, shading due to buildings, vegetation or the topology occurs, which reduces the available solar radiation compared to that on an open area. We have developed sensors to measure the actual irradiance on vehicles over transport routes throughout the world.
