IEA PVPS Task 13 focuses on international collaboration to improve the reliability of photovoltaic systems and subsystems. This is achieved by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information about their technical performance and durability. This creates a basis for their technical evaluation and develops practical recommendations to increase their electrical and economic efficiency in various climate regions.

Task 13 is divided into three thematic subtasks and several activities that reflect the aforementioned goals:

Subtask 1: Reliability of Novel PV Materials, Components, and Modules

  • Degradation modes in new PV cell and module technology
  • Performance and Reliability of Second Life PV
  • Impact of Testing Strategies including application specific load conditions
  • xxx Reliability of PV + Storage

Subtask 2: Performance and Durability of PV Applications:

  • Floating PV
  • Agrivoltaics
  • Ddd Bifacial Tracking
  • Digital Integration and Digital Twinning
  • Ddd Module Power Electronics Efficiency and Shading

Subtask 3: Techno-Economic Key Performance Indicators

  • Extreme weather and impact on PV performance KPIs
  • Optimisation of KPIs for specific climatic or environmental conditions
  • Impact of decisions in PV projects-  economic KPIs

The overarching goals of Task 13 are:

  • To provide a common platform to summarize and report on technical aspects that influence the quality, performance, and reliability of PV modules and systems in a variety of environments and applications.
  • To collect modeled and measured data from various PV systems around the world. This includes summaries of different practices from each country and experiences with various PV technologies, and system designs.

To disseminate the results of Task 13 and communicate them to our stakeholders in various ways, including in reports, workshops, webinars, and web content.
