International Power-to-X Workshop | From Innovation to Application – Research and Industry Perspectives

Converting green electricity from renewable sources into storable energy carriers such as hydrogen, ammonia or dimethyl ether is a practical solution with several key advantages: these Power-to-X energy carriers guarantee energy security independent of the volatility of sustainable energy production; they can be transported over long distances; and they are suitable for defossilizing sectors that can currently be electrified only to a limited extent or not at all. The mobility sector (shipping and aviation), the industrial sector (steel and cement production) and the chemical industry will remain dependent on green energy sources and chemicals in the medium term.

The workshop is organised by the Sustainable Energy Council. The content of the workshop is being developed jointly by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE and the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research TNO, with the support of the Port of Rotterdam.

The aim of the workshop is to map the Power-to-X (PtX) landscape and highlight short- and medium-term solutions to be implemented in the coming years, as well as to discuss different technology options and pathways for the production, transport and use of sustainable synthesis products as energy carriers for the mobility sector and other industrial applications.

Decision makers from industry and research will provide answers to the following questions:

  • What is the current status of the production, transport and use of Power-to-X products such as green hydrogen, green ammonia and dimethyl ether (DME)?
  • What are the market challenges?
  • What new technologies can provide solutions?
  • What should importing and exporting countries be aware of?
  • What are the criteria for determining the best PtX products, production sites, supply chains and buyers?

Join us and

  • Prepare your company for the future: Gain a comprehensive overview of technology and market options along the entire hydrogen value chain.
  • Learn about successful use cases in transport, industry and infrastructure. We will show you how to successfully scale up the hydrogen economy in practice.
  • Share particular difficulties and discuss solution strategies with us.
  • Engage with high-profile panelists and speakers from academia and industry.

The outcome of the workshop will be a set of recommendations for policy and industry to be presented at the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition on Monday, May 13, 2024.

By attending the workshop, you will receive a discount of more than 30% on the ticket price for the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition (including the boat tour of the Port of Rotterdam just before the workshop).

We look forward to seeing you at our booth C46 on May 13-14, 2024.
