If the PV power plant is located near traffic routes or residential communities, it may be necessary to test the glare behavior of the solar PV module. We have software that dynamically calculates the direction and intensity of the all potential reflections caused by the PV system over an entire year. The intensity of the reflection is dependent on many factors. These include the sun’s position, the module orientation and the characteristics of the module surface. The glare duration determines whether it is acceptable or not. The working group for immission control on the federal and state level gives a upper glare limit of 30 minutes/day and 30 hours/year.
The factors included in the calculations are:
- coordinates of the installation site
- dimensions of the PV system
- module orientation and tilt
- coordinates of the points of immission (residential building, airports and landing paths, etc.)
