Dipl.-Ing. Axel Oliva

Project Manager, Buildings Systems Technology, Division Heat and Buildings

Short Biography

Axel Oliva studied Energy and Environmental Engineering at Technical University of Hamburg TUHH, Germany and Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, Chile. He graduated evaluating the system performance for a new developed design of a concentrating solar-thermal process heat collector at TUHH in 2009. Since that time he has been working at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg i.Br., Germany where he joined the department of Energy Efficient Buildings and is working as project manager. Here, he is dedicated to thermal systems and focuses the broad range from component design, hydraulics as well as control strategies for efficient building supply systems and its integration into district heating networks and the power grid. He is conducting monitoring campaigns, and setting up numerical system simulation models that are calibrated by the analysed measured data or obtained from test laboratories. Evaluating the thermal and power-grid operable performance of systems leads him furthermore to analyse the entire product chain of building supply systems as well, especially by economic aspects like the indirect costs. He is furthermore engaged in process analysis of constructions to evaluate performance gaps and develop relieable and rational solutions with a high level of quality assurance for planning, installation, comissioning and operation of building supply systems.
