The goal of MinWaterCSP is the development of innovative cooling and mirror cleaning technologies to reduce water consumption in solar thermal power plants.

The Fraunhofer ISE is involved in the following aspects:

  • Modeling and simulation - technology assessment and financial optimization using the Fraunhofer simulation software ColSim.
  • Water consumption and treatment - optimized water management plans are being developed and evaluated on the basis of detailed analyses and tests of raw water and operating water.
  • Heat exchanger development - design and experimental performance test of heat exchanger bundles with wire structures.
  • Collector cleaning optimization - analysis of contamination and dust collection on CSP collectors.
