Fraunhofer ISE investigates the reliability of all components used in photovoltaic modules, such as glazing, encapsulation and backsheet materials as well as metallic PV module components. Within the context of different research projects, scientists analyze the influence of different material combinations on the long-term durability of PV modules. Service projects, are run in collaboration with international clients to examine the suitability of new materials as PV module components. Here, accelerated aging tests are used to replicate operational loads within short testing times.
Our outdoor testing facilities located around the globe enable the validation of accelerated tests and their correlation to real exposure and operation.
The durability of materials and components is analyzed using ultramodern, largely non-destructive measurement techniques.
We also contribute our longstanding experience to develop standards.
