Dr. Jan Christoph Goldschmidt

Head of Team Novel Solar Cell Concepts, Division Solar Cells - Development and Characterization

Research focus

Photon management technologies, such as upconversion, spectral splitting and advanced light trapping, as well as multijunction solar cells based on the combination of silicon and novel materials such as perovskites and nanowires offer the possibility to overcome the efficiency limits of conventional photovoltaic technologies. Developing new concepts and showing the potential of such technologies is the core of my work. The overarching goal is to continue the path of cost reduction by innovation to help a more and more widespread application of photovoltaics.
